ok, alot of you that have seen my S-10 may think it started life as a pussy show truck, well if you did, you are wrong. here are a few pics of what it started life as. i bought it in 95 while in the service stationed at LRAFB AR.
in the buried pics it was sporting a 3" trailmaster body lift and 31" TSL Thornbergs, these tires sucked ass accept in ruts, in my opinion.
this is in front of my apartment in AR. when i was in the Air Force.
in front of my shop on base
a short time after these photos, a guy rear ended me so i repainted the whole truck and grill, and got rid of the door trim.
this is what it looked like when i got out of the service and came home in Dec of 1998.
i washed it and waxed it then took it to Carlisle All Truck Nationals 1999, this started the show truck craze for me.
in the year 2000 the 4.3 took a serious shit on me, i guess all the arkansas swamp water that got swallowed by the motor finally caught up to it.
the new ZZ4 GM Performance crate engine. 355HP at fly wheel and 405 torque. we put this motor in at the end of 2000 and finished it up in 2001 sometime. i had the 700R4 tranny built out of all corvette parts that would fit in the case done by john patrick, owner of patricks frankstown service on frankstown road in johnstown. he told me that this tranny could handle up to 450HP no problem. he used to build race car transmissions. true dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. 4.56 gears, eaton posi lock in the rear, 35" Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials, 15x10 eagle alloys. right after the motor swap it went down to where lee was working (selective wheels at that time) and had him do a trailmaster 5" suspension lift.
so i went back to Carlisle in 2001 and won first place in radical class for S-10's.
my wedding in 2001.
a month after my wedding.
even busted the suspension.
so after fighting for months with the girl who hit me head on's insurance company, they decided not to total it and gave me 8000 to fix it, so to the body shop it went. the frame that was under it got all twisted up all the way back so we had to get a new frame. while it was in the body shop i tore out the interior and tweeded everything myself, my buddy who owned the body shop laid down the red paint, i taped out the flames and masked off all the red, he laid the 3 phase diamond white pearl, i airbrushed the flames, he laid the clear. when it came out it was almost all customed by me to fit me and what i wanted at that time.
when it came out of the body shop, we went back to carlisle 2002. i won first place in my class again this year.
i didnt like the front bumer cover on there at all that year, but funds were depleted already for the year so i had to keep it for a year. i also didnt like the frame all painted up so i wire brushed it all back down and airbrushed it rustoleum black.
ooops, i guess drank to much Captain Morgan that year, and passed out getting up to go to my tent and slept where i fell, from what i am told.
back to carlisle in 2003, with a new front bumper. again i won first in my class.
halloween parade 04 where you guys would have seen it. and other 04 pics.
well thats about where it is now. i am in the process of building a house in ogle town now, when its done i am building a 40x60 shop and tearing it back down and doing solid axle swap, 4 link front and rear, interior roll cage integrated into the bed and up front, mastercraft suspension seats, 5 point harness's and maybe full width axles, and i am going to wheel it again like i used to, or as it started life.
its only taken since 1995 to get it to this point and only about 3 rebuilds. time to see where the next rebuild takes me. when i start the next stage of the trucks life i will keep you updated. please let me know what ya think of the truck so far. |

Wow, theres alot of time & love in that thing
I'm not gonna say that 10'r isn't a incredibly nice truck But I have little time in my own life for show trucks
I honestly believe that a functional rig that gets used hard is a way more beautifull thing then any show truck could ever be, but I will say that if you still like that truck you might wanna consider building a different 10'r into a wheeler
However, if that truck becomes a fullwidth solid axle wheeler & is setup right it will be one BAD mother fucker no doubt
BTW: for now I'd skip the rear 4 link, just leave the 10'r rear suspension & add a nice long Y link traction bar, that way you'll have a simple rear suspension that still works well and will leave yoiu plenty of time to work out the front setup _________________ *****************************************************

A traction bar on the rear of an s10 is a waste of fab time in itself. 100% not needed, just bef up the spring perches and it will work perfect. You know your not gonna wheel it sam...come on now. |

I'm not saying your wrong, but with the engine he's gonna be running I'd take the extra step & build one for insurance _________________ *****************************************************

oh Bill, you dont know me to well............lol.
when it goes under the knife after my garage is built, its gonna be a wheeler again.
Jay, at one point in my life i enjoyed show trucks, and alway said to myself in the back of my mind (wow, show trucks are nice, but do they go as nice as they look?). Since i built my grand into a wheeler, i realized just how much i missed it. like you said, i built this thing up with a ton of time and love as it shows, but it started life as a wheeler and thats the way it wants to end its life (it told me so). full widths locked, the works, it may take me another many years to get it the way i want it, but at least it will be a fully functional wheeling rig when its done.
right now it will smoke the tires off (and i do) for long distances. i laid a patch in front of my house 3 houses long a few months ago. and just 2 days ago, i was marking my territory in front of where i am building my new house...LOL. when it goes under the knife i will post some pics of the process. |

I'm not into show trucks even though I built a few for other people. I like the history behind this truck. It has went from one extreme to another and will go back to its original form and still running, that's what it's all about. Keep up the good work! |

its just paint, someone keyed it a few months ago at work. the only way to fix the key mark is to repaint the whole truck, so i may as well wheel it now right.
thanks, its the first 4x4 i ever bought. first thing my dad told me when i got it was not to lift it, i bet you will never guess the first thing i did to it when i got back to arkansas................. |

Well, here's an update for yall. I will be acquiring 3k come income tax time to build a pole building shell with roof. I will use tarps for walls until I save up for some sort of siding.
I was looking over the body of this truck and the driver side where it was repaired from the accident is rusting pretty good since I haven't done much maintenance over the last couple years. All the more reason to go full width 60's or rocks. There's nothing that says you cant have a flashy wheeler with a loud stereo right? I can't wait to have a place where I can tear into this. _________________ 93 YJ, 2 1/2" springs, 1 1/4 boomerang shackles, 2" body lift, 33" MTR's (35"Baja Claws coming off the truck for this), run down old tired 2.5L (AMC360 replacement in the back yard with 727TF), my wheeler and DD.

I know the feeling brother, I was into the shows too. The 7 started out as a Show n' GO rig, Showed in the summer and wheeled in the winter. That lasted maybe 5 years. Wheel that truck, you'll enjoy it more. _________________ Highlander
